Many have been to the place of Kurseong but the true beauty of this place has been left untamed by the eyes of many. A huge chimney was built at the topmost location of the hills of Kurseong in the year of 1839 by the Britishers. The entire town can be viewed from this point of the hill. There lies a historic act in the structure that is being built on the hilltop.
A lush barren piece of land lies in front yard of the Chimney serving as a perfect spot to spend quality time. But the history says that this piece of land was utilized by the Britishers to take rest. The way leading to Kurseong Chimney is a well-constructed pavement known as Bagora. Surrounded by emerald pine trees on one of its side and the beautiful green hills to its other side making it a safer place.
The exotic journey through the clean polished roads does not let’s one want the roads to end so instantly. Rather the shining atmosphere will make one want to feel the nature from its core. Moreover, there lies a view point from the hilltop where the combined beauty of both the lakes and hills can be experienced. The view at one of its side visualizes the wide Mahananda, Balason and the famous Teesta River providing an ecstatic view. Whereas, the other side gives a view of the mighty hills of Kanchenjunga and the Sandakphu Hills. The road seems to be of the plains at high altitude and the pine trees providing a fencing across the border roads.
Needless to say the clouds floating just above the roads of Kurseong Chimney touching the body feels to make your skin wet. This makes your inner soul to soothe and feel refreshed.
HOW TO REACH CHIMNEY
Chimney can be reached by two ways by the travelers. One can travel through Kurseong via the Dow Hill to reach to the hills of Chimney. And another can be traveled via the Darjeeling road and again back up the hill to reach the beautiful village. It generally takes about 30 mins to reach through the marvelous Bagora road from Kurseong. A perfect destination for a short trip to relieve stress from busy schedule.

This village of Kurseong took its name from the famous Chimney that was built on the top of the hill. The serene small village of Chimney is a beautiful place to explore. The vast barren land in front of Chimney could be a place of camping under the twinkling stars and the shining moon on the vast sky.
