A latest offbeat destination for the travel lovers who are always in a craze for new offbeat places of North Bengal. Kumai is among the most least populated places with great treasure of tea garden and a bird’s paradise.

A perfect vacation spot for the bird watchers, an amazing location for the serene, isolate admirers. Exhausted from the over-crowded, tangled lifestyle? And strongly willing to remove hassles out of life? Kumai will turn out to be the most appropriate location. With its perfect ambiance of fresh, peaceful, isolate places are sure to heal the polluted mind and soul of a body. It instantly refreshes tiredness from the frustrated mind and transforms into its new life. This heavenly place can be traversed from Malbazar, the nearest railway station. And further crossing the Chapramari Forest Range. The road reaches a diversion known as Kumani from where the road to right leads to Bindu, Jhalong and the other road to the left leading to Kumai. The population being least, runs a few vehicles and so people gather up in those vehicles as much as they can.

The path leading to Kumai offers a beautiful scenic view of the vast Kumai tea garden on both its side. The wide species of birds, their chirping sounds. Peacocks playing around and cunningly hiding themselves, the bright colored Hornbills and more unknown birds flying around brings prominence in its beauty. Travelling through the calm route will itself nourish one’s mind and soul.

Kumai is being separated into two divisions, the lower Kumai, known as Naya Basti and the Upper Kumai. The area surrounded by large and small trees and shrubs. The local people out there are friendly and hospitable enough and they receive their guests with great honour. The friendly nature will eventually melt into one’s heart.

The same goes for the owner of the homestays. There are few homestays for the travelers as well. The homestays provide outstanding views from the terrace and also from their balconies. At one of the viewpoints, the hills of Lali Gulas is clearly visible with the flowing Murti river and with remote village of Kumai on its other side. This view fills one in ecstasy and amusement.
